Classics graduate students Charissa Skoutelas (JHU) and Anthony Smith (University of Florida) have published an article entitled “Out with the Old, in with the Young? Youth and Old Age in Vergil’s Eclogues and Georgics“ in the most recent edition of the open-access New England Classical Journal (52.1).

Inspired by the generative discussion and workshopping in Prof. Nandini Pandey’s graduate seminar Labor in Latin Literature, which Charissa took in Fall 2022, the paper explores how the intersection of youth and senectitude in the Vergilian texts may suggest the poet’s own reflection on working within and beyond literary tradition.
