Hopkins Classics grads were out in force at CAMWS 2026, which took place in Mobile, Alabama. Three of our PhD graduates delivered papers at the conference:
Charissa Skoutelas, ‘Comic Commodities: Body Transformation in Aristophanes’ Acharnians and Birds.’
Keisuke Nakajima, ‘Physical Culture’s techonosōmata: Bodybuilder, Hercules, and the Terminator.’
RJ Palmer, ‘Alcithoë’s Rhetorical Loom: the Workshop and Escalation of Storytelling within Book 4 of Ovid’s Metamorphoses.’
Dr Juan Dopico, who is one of our recent graduates and currently an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Maryland, also spoke at the conference with a paper titled ‘Human Sacrifice from the Bacchanalia to Simon of Trent: the Typology of Religious Conspiracy Narratives in Latin Literature.’
